The Importance of Social Security to the Hispanic Community

According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities Social Security is of particular importance to Hispanic Americans. In fact, research demonstrates that Hispanics benefit more from the Social Security system than does the rest of the population. Specifically, Hispanics receive higher average returns on the taxes they have paid into the system than do other workers. Hispanics also rely on Social Security for a greater share of their income in retirement.
