ElbertCounty Justice Centerre-entry delayed

Reoccupation of Elbert County Justice Center by judges and court employees has been delayed a minimum of one week due to continuing mitigation work on mold detected in the walls of the facility. The following information is being provided to help those needing to conduct business with the courts.

Please reference the following information to conduct court-related business now through Feb. 3, 2006, as no court services will be available in Kiowa. Updated information will be distributed as it becomes available.

Court and probation business

All Elbert County district and county court matters including trials, hearings, probation appointments, pleadings, filings, traffic tickets and in-custody matters will temporarily be held at the Douglas County Combined Court, 4000 Justice Way, Castle Rock in the Robert A Christiansen Justice Center. Elbert County court clerks will be available at a second Douglas County court intake window. This is the second bank of windows is across from Courtroom B and next to the file review room. Physical files will not be available for review during this temporary closure period. If you have any question please call (303) 621- 2131. This is the Elbert County Court phone number which has been forwarded to the Douglas Facility.

Court proceedings scheduled through Jan. 27, 2006, have been moved to the Douglas County Justice Center.

Mandatory e-filing, which began Jan. 1, 2006, for all district court civil and probate cases filed in Elbert County Combined Court, will continue. Probation business will be conducted out of the Douglas County Justice Center until further notice. Please call the main number with any questions. 303-814-7170

The above arrangements will remain in place while the extent of contamination and recommended remediation is completed.
