Training Director

Orgnizational Mission: The Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) is a statewide, non-profit membership coalition working to end domestic violence in all its forms. Founded in 1978, through community education, networking and the empowerment of battered women and children, CCADV serves as a forum for social action and the development of services for battered women and their families by bringing its membership and the community together. CCADV is a diverse network of rural and urban advocates who work together through the coalition to coordinate services, exchange information and work on issues of common concern, thereby providing a unified, statewide environment that will nurture members' local, community-based efforts to stop domestic violence.

CCADV seeks a highly motivated person for the position of Training Director. The Training Director will bring her/his leadership skills to identify and develop training programs on behalf of domestic violence programs and the communities in which they operate. This position is full-time, exempt position which reports directly to the Executive Director. Starting salary is $38,500 and includes medical/dental benefits, vacation and sick leave.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Identify training needs of domestic violence programs and communities with the involvement of CCADV Staff, Board and Membership
  • Coordinate and implement Advocacy Trainings focused on skill building and leadership development for domestic violence advocates and others who work with victims of domestic violence
  • Develop and update a model domestic violence training curriculum for use by domestic violence programs in training their local communities.
  • Research issues to provide domestic violence technical assistance
  • Conduct site visits to rural programs
  • Assist in the development of specialized technical assistance packets for CCADV membership pertaining to domestic violence, children victimization, culturally appropriate services and programmatic issues
  • Act as liaison to CCADV Rural Issues Committee and other CCADV committee
  • Represents CCADV and promotes CCADV services in a positive and professional manner.
  • Statewide and overnight travel required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of domestic violence and violence against women and experience with a community based program, preferably with a rape crisis/domestic violence program

· Bachelor's degree in a related field, or comparable work/volunteer experience

· Computer and Internet proficiency, preferable Microsoft Word, Access and Excel

· Detail oriented, proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects

· Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of oppression

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Detail oriented and organized

· Ability to collaborate well with others

· Committed to creating and working in a feminist environment

· Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of issues involved in working with diverse populations and organizations

· Experience in developing programs in response to diverse needs

· Ability to travel across Colorado, including overnight and weekends. Have a car, insurance and a valid driver's license
