City and County of Denver district finalists selected

Governor to appoint new district court judge

The Second Judicial District Nominating Commission met in Denver on June 24,

2006, to consider candidates for a district court judgeship position. This vacancy was created by the decision of the Honorable Joseph E. Meyer III not to stand for retention, effective January 9, 2007. Three nominees were selected and certified to the Governor. They are Norman D. Haglund, William W. Hood III, and Brian R. Whitney, all of Denver.

Under the Colorado Constitution, the Governor has 15 days from July 25, 2006, within which to appoint one of the nominees as a City and County of Denver district judge in the Second Judicial District.
