Northwest CO Legal Services Project has been serving indigent clients in the Gunnison valley since l982. Since that time the project has enjoyed nearly 100% participation from local attorneys. One of the most outstanding pro bono attorneys is Thomas M. Riser of Riser, Fogo & Trezise of Gunnison. T., as he is often called, received the Rebekah A. McBride Award given by the Northwest Colorado Legal Services Project to honor pro bono attorneys in the project who have done outstanding work to provide legal service to the poor. 

Tom has been an attorney in Gunnison since 1998 and annually provides free legal services to both young and old in the Gunnison valley. T.  presents the “Now that You’re 18” seminar to all high school seniors in the valley; represents victims of domestic violence who otherwise would have no legal representation; volunteers for the Talk to an Attorney Free monthly program; and serves on the local pro bono panel of attorneys. T. is always ready and willing to give advice and counsel to all low income and needy residents of Gunnison County but has a particularly big heart for kids and victims of domestic violence. Without fine attorneys like T, the program would not be able to offer caring, responsive service to the indigent residents in our valley.  Thank you, T!
