Michael Goldman
In these many, many, years Michael has been taking pro bono cases and has generously given his time and expertise to the countless SWBVLA meetings and pro bono outreach projects.
Michael is very much respected in the community, and although he self proclaims a degree of shyness; others see a quiet thoughtfulness about him. One thing he does not shy away from is helping with Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid's mission to helpprovide coordination of pro bono legal services to low income persons residing in the counties of the Sixth Judicial District, the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute Reservations, and to foster access to legal information for the general public of Southwest Colorado.
Born in Manhasset Michael Goldman, a senior partner at Goldman Robbins Nicholson, P.C. in Durango Colorado has been involved with Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid since practically its beginning. His wife, DeeDee, shares in his passion for the outdoors and is a ski patroller at Durango Mountain Resort and a veterinarian. They have an eleven year-old son, Toby, who happens to be Michael's proudest accomplishment.
Michael is a 1984 college graduate of Columbia University in NYC and decided to get into the field of law because law school appeared to offer an interesting curriculum. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1987. He started his legal career as a deputy district attorney which brought him to Durango in 1988. Since then Michael has moved on, focusing on criminal law and civil litigation. Even with his busy practice he still finds time to work with Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid. Michael speaks to the heart of most pro bono advocates, "I feel I have been very fortunate in my career and this volunteer work is an opportunity toward giving back to the community."
Michael's hard work is deeply appreciated and continues to make a difference in many people's lives.
