Judge Marshall announces retirement
Commission sets date to select nominees
The Seventeenth Judicial District Nominating Commission will meet on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, to select nominees for appointment by the Governor to the office of district judge for the Seventeenth Judicial District (Adams and Broomfield counties). The vacancy will be created by the retirement of the Honorable Donald W. Marshall, Jr. The vacancy will occur on Nov. 1, 2005.
To be eligible for appointment to fill the vacancy, the applicant must be a qualified elector of the Seventeenth Judicial District and must have been admitted to the practice of law in Colorado for five years. The annual salary for this position is currently $110,255. The initial term of office of a district judge is a provisional term of two years; thereafter, the incumbent district judge, if approved by the voters, has a term of six years. The original and seven copies of the application must be filed with the ex-officio chair no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, 2005. Late applications will not be considered. Any person wishing to suggest a candidate to fill the vacancy may do so by letter to be submitted to any member of the nominating commission, with a copy to the ex-officio chair, no later than Monday, Aug. 22, 2005.
Applications will be kept confidential, except that the nominating commission shall disclose the names, work addresses, and work telephone numbers of those nominees submitted to the Governor. The members of the nominating commission for the Seventeenth Judicial District are: Lorenzo A. Trujillo of Commerce City, Howard Zoufaly of Broomfield, Donna L. Fair of Thornton, Barbara L. Corneau of Northglenn, Timothy L. Booker of Thornton, and John J. Coates and David L. Paul, both of Westminster.
