Denver district court initiates call-in system for jurors

Denver district court is instituting new procedures in its juror notification process. Juror summons now being mailed offer summonsed jurors two options for receiving information regarding their service: via the court's website and through an automated phone call-in system which will go on-line beginning Aug. 1, 2005.

"Citizen jury service is essential to our American trial system," says Chief Judge Jeffrey Bayless. "The new information phone system gives those persons summonsed to serve as jurors an additional tool to receive up-to-date scheduling information 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Juror summons, now arriving in mail boxes across Denver County, contain a phone number where pre-recorded information regarding a juror's need to report for service will be available beginning Aug. 1. The process mirrors other systems implemented in various counties in the metro Denver area.

Additional information regarding juror service in Denver district court is available at http://www.courts.state.co.us/districtii/02nd/jurytabledenver.html. Resources directly accessible through this site include general information along with postponement and disqualification requests, daycare information for jurors and the availability of discounted parking. Jury CommissionerLe Anna L. Mosher can be contacted at (720) 865-9113.

"The new system is designed to provide citizens with an effective, efficient juror system reflective of the great respect we have for those who serve," adds Bayless. "We hope this system will help provide those summonsed with an easily accessible, up-to-date source of information regarding their need to report."
